About us
We exist to make pending healthcare accessible
A pay-it-forward nonprofit that funds the medical and mental-health appointments that money keeps out of reach for many people.
CitaPendiente began with a simple observation: the most common reason a healthcare appointment stays pending is a bill. It isn't apathy or ignorance — it's economic inaccessibility. A primary-care visit weighed against rent. A therapy session priced out of reach for many people. A check-up postponed until it becomes an emergency or crisis.
We run on donations that let us forward-fund basic medical appointments and mental-health care through a network of partner clinics and professionals. The clinics deliver the care and bill us the cost of the appointment. We publish what was raised and the appointments funded, every quarter.
We know the hard work done by professionals in the public sector, and we know there is a lack of budget and a limited number of professionals. We are not a replacement for the healthcare a society owes its people. We are a bridge that holds while the larger work of improving access continues, and one that proves the gap can be closed one donation at a time.
How we work
- Partner clinics bill us and we transfer the funds — no markup, no middlemen
- Every funded appointment is logged
- Quarterly public reports on donations received and what they paid for
- Recipient information is private
What we believe
Care is not a luxury
Mental and physical healthcare should be reachable for everyone, not just those who can already afford it.
Dignity is non-negotiable
No means-testing gauntlets, no naming, no tax on a person's dignity to receive help.
Transparency is the point
Donors see what their gift bought. Recipients keep their privacy. Both matter.
